In a nutshell
I have spent most of my life living and working in Devon, though my time in Wales is creeping up on that record. My father was a Vicar and my mother was a secondary school teacher. We moved about a lot as a young family so I became good at making friends. I'm not one for being part of one small group of like minded people. Variety is the spice of life after all!
Most of the time I am quiet and hard working, though I do have my moments. I enjoy listening to pretty much any music; have a witty sense of humour; and like to make people laugh. I have a big heart and am very trusting and caring; take people at face value; and always make time for others.
I love to spend time exploring new places and photographing the world around me. I enjoy hiking, running, swimming, ice skating, bouldering, cycling and generally being outdoors. Friends will often get a message from me asking if they want to join my next expedition though I'll happily go alone.
I get a buzz from gardening, cooking, carpentry and making things. Most of my immediate family are keen gardeners and good with their hands; which is something I keenly absorbed. It's amazing how much money you can save making things for yourself rather than buying them off the shelf. It's also rather satisfying! A number of friends have enjoyed the soft toys I make for their children. I take commissions for making furniture.
PC gaming has always been my preferred entertainment rather than TV. If not racing games then I really enjoy first-person experiences or slightly calmer games like Cities Skylines.
One of my life passions is cars. I'm not a walking talking encyclopaedia of car knowledge but I love being around and driving cars. I've been a huge fan of the BMW brand since a young age, swept up by the design and marketing of the initial M3 and M5 cars in the late 80s. The dream car is a Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 which I was fortunate enough to drive at Thruxton race circuit in early 2015. In the meantime my BMW M135i was the cloest I have gotten to supercar ownership to date!
